Visit Newcastle
Winner of the Kentico best Government site, the Visit Newcastle website is a tourism site for visitors to Newcastle when they are in the research and planning stage of travel.
The website provides information to visitors on the experiences that they can have in the region, whilst listing the accommodation, attractions and facilities available to them.
One of the key features is an integration with the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse for all the venue information. The extensive use of Google maps also helps create an immersive, interactive experience.
The branding on the Visit Newcastle website is a huge improvement over the previous Newcastle Council branding as can be seen by going to any of the other Newcastle Council sites which now look quite dated. This is because we got to use the new branding, and this was the first site that we developed from scratch for the Council.
We used Kentico’s MVC model to take advantage of the MVC page builder and widgets. We also used features like the related items, media libraries, categories and many more of the standard features that make managing Kentico sites such a pleasure.
Kentico has been the preferred CMS for Newcastle Council for the last few years as they decided to standardise on the platform. Webcoda has been managing all the Council sites but the Visit Newcastle site was the first site that we have developed from scratch.
The project was developed over the course of 4 months.
